A federal appeals court rejected a legal challenge to a law that requires TikTok to cut ties with its Chinese parent company or be banned by Jan. 19.
The legal decision on Friday came from a panel of appointed judges, including two Republicans and one Democrat.
“It’s almost certainly going to go up to the U.S. Supreme Court for another review,” KOAT legal expert John Day predicted. He added that if the High Court chose not to hear the case, the decision made Friday would stand — making TikTok’s ban one step closer to happening.
